How can I get rid of a permanent pimple scar? (Beauty query of the day)
by Dr Shuba Dharmana
I am a 23-year-old male. I had a hard, dirty pimple on my cheeks. A doctor gave me a cream to get rid of it. I applied the cream but I mistakenly applied excess amounts and it burnt my skin. Now it has become a permanent scar on my cheeks. That portion of skin seems soft (and burnt) and there is no hair growth on the scar since 6 months. Kindly suggest the best way to get rid of the scar and get the hair growth back.

If it has been 6 months since the scar formation, there is little you can expect from natural wound repairing now. If the scar looks like a pit or is depressed, scar remodelling treatments like fractional lasers or a dermaroller treatment are available. These treatments cause micro wounds in the skin and the skin in the process of repairing itself forms collagen. This should help lift the scar. The skin colour may also be gradually restored but it takes several months. However there is little chance of it gaining back its hair which has been permanently destroyed.
